Justin and Darbie's Infinite Playlist - Bishop Allen at the Black Cat on August 23

After a five-year hiatus, Bishop Allen are back with Lights Out, their fourth studio album. The band members are growing up, moving out (of Brooklyn), and branching out musically (and elsewhere). The new album is largely a collaboration between husband and wife duo Justin Rice and Darbie Nowatka, with bandmate (and OKCupid co-founder) Christian Rudder finding himself at the center of a "dataclysm".

The new album is like an old friend you haven't seen in years, but with whom you fall into a familiar and comfortable rhythm almost immediately. The incorporation of Nowatka's vocals on multiple tracks lends the album a very different feel, a more stripped-down Stars or a more sedate Immaculate Machine.

The band rolls into The Black Cat this Saturday with Jesse Marchant. Doors open at 9pm, and tickets are $13 in advance or $15 at the door.  I'll leave you with the video for 'Start Again', the first track and single from the album.
